Walking your dog in South Lakeland

Given our position in the heart of South Lakeland we’re literally surrounded by dog friendly walks and places to visit.  Head west over to the Southern shores of Lake Windemere at Blake Holm or walk out to the east and enjoy the gentler landscape of the Lythe Valley, as the River Gilpin works its way South to Milnthorpe Sands & Arnside.  Head north and the pick of the Lakeland fells are at your feet.  Honestly, if you like dogs and pubs you’re going to be in your element.

Seasonal dog walking tips

Whenever you are planning to walk, there are a few tips you should follow to make sure every adventure is a happy one. On shorter, darker days; Invest in some high viz for you and your dog and carry a dedicated torch.

When the days eventually get brighter and warmer, replace the high viz and torch with sunscreen and water (for you and the dog). Then, whenever you go remember that having a charged phone is a modern day essential, as is keeping your pooch on a lead, especially in open countryside.
